UV 50

What does UV 50 mean?

Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) indicates how much UV radiation (both UVB and UVA) a fabric allows to reach your skin. For example, a UPF 50 fabric blocks 98 percent of the sun's rays and allows two percent (1/50th) to penetrate, thus reducing your exposure risk significantly.

So, when we say that HLT has UPF50 woven into our fabrics, it means that all HLT swimwear has the highest achievable rating for clothing and effectively block out 98% of harmful UVB & UVA rays. When broken down, that means only 1/50th of ultraviolet radiation you come in contact with is getting through your suits and making contact with your skin.
